Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.
Several individuals were wounded while local people in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered disruption to drinking water, per reports from municipal leaders.
At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by regional authorities.
Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while officials has requested "concrete actions" from allies to increase pressure on Russia.
"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in supplying air defence systems and implementing restrictions," was stated in a social media post.
Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.
Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.
Multiple people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.
Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults throughout the evening. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were wounded.
The strikes come after evenings of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.
The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.
Government officials told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting gas facilities.
Officials stated technical personnel and authorities were anticipating further attacks.
